CAL Copyright Agency

Greg Taylor has 20 years’ experience working in licensing of rights in the publishing industry. His role at Copyright Agency is to promote copyright literacy and compliance across different business and professional sectors in Australia. Greg spoke to members of many Networks and Associations on how Copyright may impact our role as Celebrants and how CAL Copyright might benefit us.

Holding a copyright licence is a personal choice.

The presentation asked about who we are, why is it important, who the licence is distributed and how to avoid copyright infringement.

A question was asked by an attendee: The licence grants no rights to clients, only to the celebrant to reproduce, communicate (in the context of preparing or conducting ceremonies) and digital storage of any copies.

And on private events…

There is no exception for reproduction in this context (e.g. making a copy of poem or book extract and providing as a handout, placing in a presentation, or otherwise communicating.
