The United Celebrant Network acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work, live, play, and learn. We come from diverse backgrounds and are grateful to call this beautiful country, Australia, our home. We honour and respect the deep, intrinsic connections that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to this land, and we appreciate the wisdom and culture they have nurtured over countless generations. We feel honoured to hear, and participate in any Aboriginal culture customs, traditions, stories and language asking any of our members who are willing or wanting to share this heritage to please reach out.
My Story
Hey, I’m Lou (she/her), a down-to-earth ambivert based on the Central Coast of NSW whose celebrant journey began in 2020 after years of working as a Funeral Arranger. Based in England at the time, where celebrants are unable to legally marry couples, my entire focus was on creating beautiful ceremonies centered around love and life stories.
Personal Philosophy or Mission Statement
In 2022 I moved home to Australia after a gap year that had turned into nearly 6 years away where I became an Authorised Marriage Celebrant and soon being drawn back to my funeral roots also started work as an Independent Funeral Director. Nowadays I love balancing the light-heartedness and joy of weddings with the deeply rewarding work of helping people farewell their loved ones.
Fun Facts or Personal Interests or Favourite Saying
I’ve always enjoyed being an active member of my community so in my spare time you’ll find me running our local Girl Guide group, doing laps in the pool, walking my rescue dog Pepper and immersing myself in everything the Central Coast has to offer. After all, life’s too short to not enjoy it!
