My Story

I LOVE being a Celebrant. Honestly, I love everything about weddings! From getting to know my couples and creating a ceremony that feels completely like them, to guiding them through the planning and legalities and, of course, having the honour of officially marrying them. I genuinely think I have the best job in the world!

My path to becoming a Celebrant started long before I was accredited. I’m a born-and-bred Novocastrian (from Newcastle), with a hubby, two amazing teenage daughters and a cute little pooch named Bonnie. When I’m not at a wedding, you’ll find me outdoors, at the beach, camping, playing pickleball, or swimming. And yes, I often work on my laptop outside on the patio or at a café!

I studied a double degree in Primary Teaching and Fine Arts, with a major in Photography, at the University of Newcastle. I spent 17 years as a Primary School Teacher and also worked as a part-time Wedding Photographer for 15 years, where I fell in love with the wedding industry.

I had thought about becoming a Celebrant for many years, and in 2017, after Australia voted Yes to marriage equality, I started looking into it seriously. After searching for the right fit, I thankfully found Jill and the Unleashed Collective, and on 4 July 2023, I officially became an Authorised Marriage Celebrant!

I have now married 95+ wonderful couples, and I love being a Celebrant even more than I ever imagined. My style is easygoing, genuine, warm, and joyful, and I feel incredibly lucky to play such a special part in my couples’ lives.

Achievements and Contributions â€‹

With 15 years in the wedding industry as a photographer and 17 years as a Primary School Teacher, becoming a Celebrant has brought together so many things I love: people, storytelling, creativity, connection, organisation and, of course, weddings!

My background in education has also naturally led me to mentoring, and I love helping new Celebrants feel more confident and prepared.

I’m passionate about sharing ideas, learning from others, celebrating each other’s successes and being part of a positive, supportive celebrant community.

Personal Philosophy

I believe every couple deserves a Celebrant who genuinely cares and takes the time to understand what matters to them. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to weddings. I encourage couples to choose a Celebrant who makes them feel that they are in good hands.

I also believe we’re better when we support one another. There is so much knowledge, experience, and creativity we can share, and I love being part of a community that encourages us all to learn, grow, and lift each other up.

Fun Facts

  • I have 10, yes, 10 brothers-in-law.

  • I love working from my bed – especially in Winter.

Vision for the Network

My vision for The United Celebrant Network is to create a genuine, welcoming community where Celebrants can connect, learn, share and support one another.

A place where we can ask questions, share ideas, celebrate our wins, and lean on each other when we need support. We all bring different experiences, strengths, and ways of doing things, and that’s what makes our industry so special.

My hope is that together we can continue to learn, grow, and lift each other up.
