The Wedding of
Jessie and David
Client Background:
Jessie and David are a well-travelled couple planning their first wedding. They have never been married before and reached out to you 16 months before their wedding date. They both hold passports, which they will use as identification for their Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM).
Initial Meeting:
Shortly after contacting you, Jessie and David meet with you to complete the NOIM. During this meeting, you provide them with two "Happily Before and After" flyers. The couple express their excitement about working with you and appreciate the comprehensive information you provide about the wedding process.
Crafting the Ceremony:
Over the next few months, you maintain regular contact with Jessie and David to help craft their ceremony. You guide them through writing their own vows, ensuring they reflect their unique personalities and relationship. Your collaborative approach makes the couple feel supported and confident in their ceremony.
Communication and Planning:
You inform Jessie and David that you will check in three months before the ceremony date to finalize details and hold a rehearsal one month prior. One week before the rehearsal, you reach out to confirm the details and ensure everything is in place. This organised approach reassures the couple and helps them feel prepared.
Financial Arrangements:
After your initial meeting, you send Jessie and David an invoice. Impressed by your professionalism and demeanor, they pay in full without hesitation. This early payment demonstrates their trust and commitment to working with you.
Rehearsal:
You arrive at the rehearsal one hour early to set up, conduct a sound check, and meet and greet guests and family members as they arrive. This extra effort allows you to address any last-minute details and ensure everyone is comfortable with the proceedings. The Declaration of No Legal Impediment is signed at this time.
Ceremony Day:
On the day of the ceremony, everything runs smoothly. Jessie and David arrive on time, and the carefully curated music plays at the entrance, during the reading, and at the end during the signing and processional. The ceremony includes the following elements:
- Welcome and acknowledgment to country
- Storytelling about the couple's journey
- Legal wording (Section 46 and Section 45 of the Marriage Act)
- Personal vows
- A reading
- Announcement of the couple as husband and wife
- Housekeeping
- Signing of the register
- A fun processional
You ensure that two official certificates of marriage and the marriage certificate are ready for signing at the signing table. The ceremony is heartfelt and memorable, reflecting the couple's personalities and love story.
Post-Ceremony:
Within 14 days of the marriage, you lodge the necessary paperwork in the state or territory where the marriage was solemnized. Jessie and David are delighted with your service and leave a glowing review on your Google account. You all share photos on social media, and your account promotes a friendly reminder each year of their wedding day via memories.
Client Discovery:
Jessie and David originally found you by attending a friend's wedding where you officiated. Impressed by your performance, they checked your online presence and were further convinced to approach you. Your strong online presence and positive reviews played a significant role in their decision to choose you as their celebrant.
